Wong Soon Fah

Wong Soon Fah, born in October 22, 1950, was appointed as the Executive Director of Kuantan Port Consortium Sdn Bhd on 2 July 2018.
He graduated with a Professional Degree Full Member of Chartered Institute of Transport, London in 1977. A self-made man starting from the rank and file, he started his career as a clerk at Klang Port Authority in 1969. After 14 years with the Klang Port Authority, he then joined Kuantan Port Authority in 1983 as Planning and Commercial Manager before a change of portfolio to Operations and Commercial Manager in 1990.

Wong later decided to retire from the government service in 1997 to join Kuantan Port Consortium Sdn Bhd, at the time when Kuantan Port was privatised on 1 January 1998. Wong spent 11 years at Kuantan Port as an all-rounder. He started as General Manager, Operations in 1998 before holding the post of General Manager, Marketing in 2000.

He was appointed as Chief Operating Officer in 2004 and held the position of Managing Director from August 2006 till his retirement in August 2009. Upon his retirement, he was retained as an Advisor to Kuantan Port for a year to obtain approval for the port’s tariff increase from the Ministry of Transport, and to expand the Kuantan Port under the ECER Programme. Wong was also in the board of Port Klang Free Trade Zone initiated by the Ministry of Transport from 2011 – 2015.

Mazlim Husin

Mazlim Husin born in March 16, 1967, was appointed as Chief Operating Officer on 2 July 2018.  He was the General Manager (Operations) from April 2017 until June 2018.  Prior to that, he was the General Manager (Marketing & Corporate Communications) who oversaw marketing and communication strategies in Kuantan Port, leading the business to a higher level.

He holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Business and Economics from Bishop’s University, Lennoxville Quebec, Canada since 1991. In 1994, he joined Road Builder (M) Holdings Berhad as Assistant Business Development Manager. Thereafter, he was entrusted as Property Development Manager (2000 – 2004), Special Assistant to Executive Vice Chairman Office (2004 – 2006).

Prior to joining Kuantan Port Consortium, he represented an Australian mining company listed in the ASX, Grange Resources Limited to manage their interests in Malaysia while actively ventured in the mining business, driven by his entrepreneurship. Due to his involvement in the industry, he was elected to be the Secretary of Persatuan Pelombong Pahang in 2015.

He was involved in a number of major property development projects including Kuching Waterfront, Privatisation of Kuantan Port, and Sungai Besi Road. He managed to obtain manufacturing license and generous incentives in record time from Ministry of International Trade and Industry via Malaysian Industrial Development Authority, and successfully resolved complicated land matters between a multinational company and state government.

His undying passion for nature, photography, and cycling has carved his name in many mentions and awards.

 


Selvarajah Nallapan

General Manager (Operations)

Selvarajah Nallapan born on 21 March 1961 is the General Manager taking care of Administration, Health, Safety and Environment, and Security Departments of Kuantan Port Consortium Sdn Bhd.

He has a Diploma in Business Administration from Association of Business Executives and later was accepted as a chartered member of Chartered Institute of Logistics and Transport of United Kingdom in 2003. He received his Master of Business Administration degree specializing in logistics from Universiti Industri Selangor in 2009. In July 2009, he attended the Modern Port Management programme conducted by United Nations Conference on Trade and Development at Port of Dublin.

He started his career as laboratory assistant in a palm oil refinery. He joined Kuantan Port Authority on 1 July 1980 as a clerk and posted in the Marine Services Department. Later, he was transferred to the Traffic Department of the authority and in 1992 he was posted to Kemaman Port. He was promoted to Senior Clerk and joined KPC in 1998 when Kuantan Port was privatised where he was assigned to the Administration Department. He was promoted as Executive Officer in 2000 and in 2004 he was promoted to the post of Assistant Administration Manager. A year later, he was promoted to Administration Manager and Senior Manager in 1 January 2012. The nomenclature was changed to General Manager on 1 April 2013 and additional departments were placed under him.

Ahmad Kamil Bin Shaharudin

General Manager (Infrastructure & Technical)

Ahmad Kamil, born in August 1962, was appointed the General Manager (Infrastructure & Technical) on 1st April 2013 to oversee the NDWT Port Expansion Project and old port development and maintenance.

He graduated with a Bachelor of Engineering degree in Civil Engineering from the University of Western Australia in 1984. He attended Ports and Harbour Construction training for 3 months in Japan in 1988 as well as Port Management Training Programme, conducted by United Nations Conference on Trade and Development (UNCTAD) at Kuantan Port Consortium Sdn. Bhd. (KPC) in 2010. In 2009, he received his MBA from University of Selangor (UNISEL).

He started his career as a Civil Engineer in Kuantan Port Authority in 1984 and opted to retire in 1997 to join Kuantan Port Consortium Sdn. Bhd. when Kuantan Port was privatized on 1st January 1998 as the Civil Engineering Manager until promoted to General Manager (Infrastructure & Technical) in 2013. He was involved in most of Kuantan Port planning, development and maintenance for 32 years including engineering studies, dredging and reclamation, berth constructions and container yard as well as liaison with investors for the infrastructure planning and development of the Port Industrial Area.
