Kuantan Port Consortium Sdn. Bhd. (Kuantan Port) was honoured to welcome the Deputy Minister of Investment, Trade and Industry (MITI), YB Sim Tze Tzin, for a working visit, accompanied by a distinguished delegation comprising representatives from MITI, SIRIM Berhad, and PETRONAS.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Among those present were YB Sim Chon Siang, Chairman of the Pahang State Committee on Consumer Affairs and Human Resources; Tuan Nik Sazali Nik Hussin, President and Group Chief Executive Officer of SIRIM Berhad; Puan Nora\u2019in Md Salleh, Chief Executive Officer of PETRONAS CCS Solutions Sdn. Bhd.; and Mr Ikhwan Ahmad Nawawi, Chief Executive Officer of PETRONAS Technology Ventures Sdn. Bhd.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The delegation was received by Puan Hasnita Mohd Hanapiah, General Manager of the Kuantan Port Authority, and Mr Chan Weng Yew, Chief Operating Officer of Kuantan Port. The visit provided an opportunity to discuss Kuantan Port\u2019s development journey, operational capabilities, ongoing infrastructure expansion, and strategic initiatives that continue to strengthen its position as a key logistics gateway on Malaysia\u2019s East Coast. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

A key focus of the engagement was the development of Carbon Capture and Storage (CCS) initiatives within the port ecosystem, which are expected to support Malaysia\u2019s low-carbon aspirations while reinforcing Kuantan Port\u2019s role as an emerging energy hub. Discussions also highlighted the port\u2019s growing importance in facilitating industrial growth, enhancing trade connectivity, and supporting future investments in the region.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Following the briefing session, the delegation visited Kuantan Port 2, where they gained first-hand insight into the port\u2019s operational strengths, cargo handling capabilities, and integrated logistics infrastructure. The visit further showcased the port\u2019s potential to serve as a future carbon aggregation hub, supported by its strategic location, expanding infrastructure, and multimodal connectivity.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In line with the continued transformation of Malaysia\u2019s logistics and energy landscape, Kuantan Port remains committed to strengthening future-ready capabilities, enhancing trade facilitation and supply chain resilience, and contributing meaningfully to the nation\u2019s economic growth. This commitment is underpinned by strategic development and close industry collaboration, positioning the port to support Malaysia\u2019s long-term aspirations.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
