PETRONAS CCS Solutions Sdn Bhd signs land rental agreement with Kuantan Port

Kuantan Port is proud to announce a significant milestone with PETRONAS CCS Solutions Sdn Bhd (PCCSS) Southern Carbon Capture and Storage (CCS) hub, marked by the signing of a land rental agreement at Wisma Kuantan Port recently.

The agreement was signed by En. Mazlim Bin Husin and Mr Chan Weng Yew of the Kuantan Port Management Committee, along with the Chief Executive Officer of PCCSS, Pn. Nora’in Binti Md Salleh, in the presence of the PETRONAS Head of Carbon Management Division, En. Emry Hisham Yusoff.

Also attending the momentous ceremony were PETRONAS Executive Vice President and Chief Executive Officer Upstream, En. Jukris Abdul Wahab, and Senior Vice President Malaysia Assets, Pn Hasliza Othman.

The land rental at Kuantan Port will be utilised for carbon capture, storage, and utilisation, marking a significant step for Kuantan Port and PCCSS in reducing carbon emissions and promoting greener initiatives.

Kuantan Port looks forward to implementing more sustainable practices in port operations while continuously strategising to attain Green Port status by 2030.

Kuantan Port Fun Ride 2024 – Breakwater Challenge

The Kuantan Port Fun Ride 2024 – Breakwater Challenge successfully took place last weekend. This exciting cycling event marked the 4th edition of the fun ride since 2017, and this year, it was held to celebrate the 50th anniversary of Kuantan Port, drawing around 500 participants from across Malaysia. Also joining us in the program was #bikeisable from Malaysian Advocates for Cerebral Palsy, a support group for children with special needs & cerebral palsy.

Cyclists gathered at Wisma Kuantan Port before sunrise, buzzing with anticipation for the 25-kilometre ride. The scenic route covered Kuantan Port, Sungai Ular Beach, and the surrounding village, including Kuantan Port’s breakwater, offering breathtaking morning views.

Kuantan Port and Malaysian Rail Link Sdn Bhd Forge Transformative Partnership

Kuantan Port has achieved another significant milestone by signing a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with Malaysian Rail Link Sdn Bhd (MRL). This landmark agreement heralds the start of a transformative collaboration for the East Coast Rail Link (ECRL) freight transportation services.

The MoU was signed by Mr. Lee Chun Fai, Chairman of Kuantan Port and Group CEO & Managing Director of IJM Corporation Berhad, and Dato’ Sri Darwis Abdul Razak, Chief Executive Officer of MRL. The signing ceremony was witnessed by the Minister of Transport, YB Loke Siew Fook, at the InterContinental Kuala Lumpur, symbolizing a new era in logistics by shifting freight transportation from road to rail via Kuantan Port.

In a concurrent development, Perodua also signed an MoU with MRL, represented by its President and CEO, Dato’ Sri Zainal Abidin Ahmad.

The ECRL spur line’s direct connection to Kuantan Port is set to revolutionize the movement of goods, enhancing connectivity and efficiency between the West and East Coasts of Malaysia. This partnership aims to deliver competitive logistics costs and improved delivery times for both imports and exports.

Through this strategic partnership, Kuantan Port is poised to play a pivotal role in the nation’s economic growth, paving the way for innovative and efficient logistics solutions.
