Visit by the Secretary General of the Ministry of Transport

On 11 April 2025, Kuantan Port had the honour of co-hosting an official visit by the Secretary General of the Ministry of Transport, YBhg. Dato’ Jana Santhiran Muniayan, who was accompanied by the Under Secretary of the Maritime Division, YBrs. Dr. Siva Sangar Krishnan. They were warmly welcomed by Puan Hasnita Binti Mohd Hanapiah, General Manager of Lembaga Pelabuhan Kuantan (Kuantan Port Authority), and En. Mazlim Bin Husin, Chief Commercial Officer of Kuantan Port.

The visit began with a comprehensive briefing on Kuantan Port’s strategic role within Malaysia’s maritime ecosystem. The visit began with a detailed briefing on Kuantan Port’s strategic importance in Malaysia’s maritime sector. The delegation was informed that the port plays a key role in handling major commodities, making it one of Malaysia’s leading dry bulk terminals.

The session also highlighted Kuantan Port’s transformation into a value-added logistics hub, with a key focus on its collaboration with Petronas CCS Solutions Sdn. Bhd. to develop a Carbon Capture and Storage hub in Pahang. Key infrastructure projects were also discussed, notably the East Coast Rail Link (ECRL), which is expected to significantly enhance inland cargo connectivity and support future carbon transport requirements.

The visit concluded with a guided tugboat tour of Kuantan Port 1 and 2, providing the delegation with a first-hand view of the port’s operational landscape. This meaningful visit reflects the federal government’s strong commitment to positioning Kuantan Port as a key regional maritime gateway and a catalyst for economic growth along the East Coast.

Maiden Voyage Ceremony of the Kuantan Port-Beibu Gulf Port Cold Chain Premium Route

On 11 April 2025, Kuantan Port proudly celebrated a historic milestone with the launch of the Cold Chain Premium Shipping Route between Kuantan Port and Beibu Gulf Port. The launch ceremony took place at the Kuantan Port 1 container terminal. The ceremony was graced by several distinguished guests, including YB Tuan Loke Siew Fook, Minister of Transport of Malaysia; YB Dato’ Mohamad Nizar bin Dato’ Sri Mohamad Najib, Pahang State Exco for Investment, Industry, Science, Technology & Innovation; Mr. Lan Tianli, Chairman of the Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region; Mr. Liu Shengyou, Chairman of Beibu Gulf International Port Group (Beibu); Pn. Hasnita Binti Mohd Hanapiah, General Manager of Kuantan Port Authority; Mr Li Chaofei, General Manager of SITC Container Lines Nanning Co., Ltd.

This ceremony marks an important step forward in the growing collaboration under the Belt and Road Initiative. More than just a maiden voyage, the launch strengthens bilateral trade ties and enhances cold chain logistics across the region—ensuring faster, more reliable delivery of high-quality goods. It also highlights the rising roles of both Kuantan Port and Beibu Gulf Port as strategic gateways in ASEAN-China trade, helping to drive long-term economic growth for the East Coast and beyond.
