Kuantan Port was thrilled to announce a significant milestone in containerized shipping at the port! In early April, the maiden call of the SITC HAKATA marked a pivotal moment.
The introduction of the CVM service by SITC Container Lines offers the fastest direct linkage to Nansha, Shekou, Qinzhou, and Haiphong, promising to enhance Kuantan Port’s connectivity and frequency to ports in ASEAN and China.

Kuantan Port Welcomed the Deputy Minister of Investment, Trade, and Industry for a Visit
Kuantan Port had the pleasure of hosting a visit from the Deputy Minister of the Ministry of Investment, Trade, and Industry (MITI), YB Liew Chin Tong, along with esteemed delegates. Welcoming them was the Group CEO and Managing Director of IJM Corporation, Mr Lee Chun Fai, accompanied by the Chief Financial Officer, Dato’ Edward Chong Sin Kiat, and the management team of Kuantan Port.
During their visit, the delegation received a comprehensive overview of Kuantan Port’s history, ongoing developments, and strategic plans. After an informative briefing session, the delegates embarked on a guided tour of our operation area in Kuantan Port 1 and Kuantan Port 2. This tour provided them with firsthand insight into our operational capabilities and cargo-handling processes.

Kuantan Port Welcomed Maersk’s Nordborg IA9 New Service
Kuantan Port welcomed a momentous arrival—the NORDBORG MAERSK. It marked the inauguration of a new service by MAERSK, offering a direct route from China to Kuantan Port in approximately ten days.
The Southbound rotation of the MAERSK Intra Asia 9 (IA9) service, encompassing ports from Qingdao, Shanghai, Ningbo, Ho Chi Minh, Sihanoukville, Kuantan Port, Singapore, Tanjung Pelepas, and Penang, underscores the strategic importance of our port in the region’s maritime trade network.
This simple yet meaningful maiden call event stood out as a memorable milestone in the history of Kuantan Port and the broader maritime industry. Kuantan Port expressed its gratitude for this development, recognising its potential to boost Malaysian trade, particularly in the East Coast region.
