Kuantan Port Wins Outstanding Engineering Project Award at IEM Pahang 2025

Kuantan Port is proud to announce that we have been awarded the Outstanding Engineering Project Award (Infrastructure Category) at the Engineer’s Dinner & Excellence Award Night IEM Pahang 2025.

The award recognises the Kuantan Port New Deepwater Terminal (NDWT) Project, a landmark development that integrates deepwater marine infrastructure with strategic industrial connectivity. The NDWT stands as a testament to large-scale engineering excellence, environmental sustainability, and high-impact economic contribution to the East Coast and the nation.

The award was presented by YB Dato’ Ir. Razali bin Kassim, Pengerusi Jawatankuasa Kerja Raya, Pengangkutan dan Kesihatan Negeri Pahang, to En. Mazlim Bin Husin, Chief Commercial Officer of Kuantan Port.

We are truly honoured to share this achievement with our dedicated colleagues from Kuantan Port and IJM Construction, who have been part of the NDWT journey from its inception to the successful completion of Phase 1 in 2019.

This recognition reinforces our commitment to delivering world-class infrastructure and advancing Malaysia’s maritime and industrial growth.

Pantai Chendor Biodiversity Conservation Programme

In conjunction with World Maritime Day 2025, Kuantan Port proudly reaffirmed its commitment to sustainability and marine conservation through the Biodiversity Conservation Programme at Pantai Chendor yesterday.

As part of our Community Investment initiative, this collaborative effort brought together the Malaysian Nature Society, the Kasih Turtle Conservation Project, and over 200 passionate volunteers, including students from Universiti Malaysia Pahang Al-Sultan Abdullah (UMPSA), Politeknik Sultan Haji Ahmad Shah (POLISAS), University College Yayasan Pahang (UCYP), and International Islamic University Malaysia (IIUM), alongside our dedicated Kuantan Port team.

The event was kicked off with an inspiring address by the Chief Operating Officer of Kuantan Port, Mr Chan Weng Yew, who emphasised our collective responsibility to protect marine life and restore coastal habitats, ensuring a sustainable future for our oceans and communities alike.

Under the theme “Our Ocean, Our Obligation, Our Opportunity”, the day saw the planting of over 3,000 mangrove trees, marking significant progress towards Kuantan Port’s pledge to plant 5,000 along Pantai Chendor’s coastline. Featuring three key species, Bakau Minyak (Rhizophora apiculata), Bakau Kurap (Rhizophora mucronata), and Bakau Tumu Merah (Bruguiera gymnorhiza), these mangroves serve as natural coastal defenders while enriching local biodiversity.

Adding to the day’s significance, volunteers collected 241.7 kilograms of trash from the shoreline during the beach cleanup, helping to restore and protect the beach’s ecosystem. In a symbolic and hopeful act, around 100 turtle hatchlings were released into the sea, representing a new beginning for these endangered creatures. Kuantan Port, in collaboration with Kasih Turtle, also pledged to protect up to 8,000 turtle eggs, including those of the Green Sea Turtle and the Painted Terrapin, a vital step in safeguarding these endangered species and ensuring their survival.

This initiative also stands as part of our Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) agenda, directly supporting the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs):

  • SDG 13: Climate Action
  • SDG 14: Life Below Water
  • SDG 15: Life on Land
  • SDG 17: Partnerships for the Goals

At Kuantan Port, we remain committed to nurturing a meaningful balance between maritime growth and environmental responsibility, helping to preserve a healthy and resilient ecosystem. Together, we envision a future where communities and nature thrive side by side, fostering well-being for generations to come.

Kuantan Port Family Day 2025

Once again, it was that special time of the year when Warga Kuantan Port gathered for one of our most anticipated events, Kuantan Port Family Day 2025, held at the Swiss Garden Beach Resort.

What made this year’s celebration even more exciting was the introduction of the sports house system, where approximately 800 participants, comprising staff and their families, were united under four vibrant team colours, namely Yellow, Magenta, Lime Green, and Orange.

Adding to the excitement, the Chief Operating Officer of Kuantan Port, Mr. Chan Weng Yew, officially unveiled the first-ever Challenge Trophy during the opening ceremony, setting the stage for a spirited day of friendly rivalry. The day kicked off with a series of fun and competitive beach activities, including children’s telematch, obstacle run, mini football, volleyball, galah panjang, and the ever-thrilling tug of war.

With each team striving for the coveted prizes, the air was filled with cheers, laughter, and healthy competition, all while strengthening bonds and showcasing the true spirit of unity. The participation of both management and staff in every activity added greater significance to the event, making it even more meaningful and reflecting the strong sense of camaraderie that defines Warga Kuantan Port.

A heartfelt thank you goes out to everyone who contributed to making Family Day such a memorable occasion. Also, a special congratulations to Team Lime Green, who rose to victory and claimed the title of Champion of the Year!
